Mid-Year Entries for the Teen/Tween Co-op

Anyone in the Round Rock area who wants to jump into a local weekly co-op, you're invited to register for our Spring session as we continue our studies of Shakespeare and Marine Biology.

We had a super fun Autumn with Midsummer Night's Dream, Macbeth, and Much Ado About Nothing, as well as a trip to the Austin aquarium and dissecting squid. There's so much more to explore together in a motivated and stimulating group of homeschoolers in middle- and high-school.

What's more, this is a DROP OFF co-op, so you can leave the kids!

Don't forget we also have a Five in a Row group for preschool to 3rd grade (not drop off, though), so there's something for the whole family.

Cost is $10 reg fee plus $50 for the whole family for the whole term. The fees go to supplies and a donation to the church for using their building.

Sign up on the registration form today so we can send you a book list and slot you into the appropriate groups.

PEACE Teen/Tween Co-op Changes Its Name

Upon further review of insurance policies, the PEACE admin regret to say that our drop-off co-op can't be covered by the policy because it requires parents to be present.

Parents, Parents, Parents!!!!

We love our parents - we love them enough to let them go off for two hours while we lead courses for their teens - so Kim and I have come to a mutual agreement with the PEACE leadership that we will sever our official link to PEACE for the co-op, but will individually stay part of their homeschooling village.

All this means, in practice, is that families of the Friday teen-tween co-op are no longer required to be members of PEACE in order to take part in the co-op.

We're all very sorry for the confusion, but there will be no long-term ramifications for the co-op despite the administrative elements of registration!

PEACE Teen and Tween Co-op for 2018-2019

Being a part of P.E.A.C.E. in Round Rock is such a wonderful opportunity for homeschoolers of all ages, so we are so happy to be offering a co-op for teens and tweens as part of the PEACE homeschooling village.

Kat and Kim, the Teen/Tween Co-op Tutors

Starting in September 2018, Kim and Kat will run their co-op again on Fridays from 10 am - noon at True Life Fellowship church at 1600 E Old Settlers Blvd, Round Rock, TX 78664.

The topics for this year are:

Science - Marine Biology
Humanities - Shakespeare

Tuna and the Bard -
sounds like it should be the name of a jazz group!

As we have done in the past, we'll split tweens and teens into two groups and teach them the opposite subject at the same time (ie, tweens will do science while teens do Shakespeare).

THIS IS A DROP-OFF CO-OP WITH A ROTA FOR ADDITIONAL PARENT SUPPORT NEEDED FOR SAFETY.

We will limit numbers to 20 students in each group.

Kim and Kat are veteran homeschoolers of more than a decade, and are also the Science and English tutors for the online courses at Dreaming Spires Home Learning. If you want to read their bios, then please click on this About Us page at their "day job" website.

COST:

There are two separate costs involved for the PEACE Teen/Tween Co-op:

1) Sign up for membership of the PEACE Homeschool village at $45/family. Contact PEACEhomeschoolvillage<at>gmail<dot>com for details of how to do this.

YOU DO HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF PEACE IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE TEEN/TWEEN CO-OP: THIS IS A REQUIREMENT FOR OUR LIABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE

2) Co-op dues are $50/semester per family and do prior to the term. These cover tutor materials and also constitute a donation to the church for the use of facilities.

REGISTRATION

We will open up registration for the co-op in June 2018: there will be a form on this website for you to fill out, and we will then send you details of how to pay. Remember, if you're not already a member of PEACE, you will not be reserved a place.

If you have any further question about this co-op, then please contact Kat Patrick at ditchleydiaries<at>gmail<dot>com

Drawing Cancelled: Contact us ASAP for biology, Texas history, and the free politics discussion

Sorry to report that we've got word the drawing teacher is snowed under with his new job, and can't actually offer drawing at my house on Fridays afterall.

On the up-side, we are gearing up to start the rest of the enrichment courses on the 16th of September. If you haven't heard from us, please email ASAP to get your name on the list.

Gina has a brilliant field trip line-up planned, and except for needing someone to coordinate our teen social events, the teen section of PEACE is well underway.
